About Me

I graduated from university with a Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) in 2005. My teaching methods were Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE). In July 2006, I got my first teaching position at a school in Melbourne's outer eastern suburbs teaching English, TESOL and SOSE. I worked there for 18 months before moving to Sydney, where I began my career as a Teacher Librarian.

In 2008, I joined the New South Wales Department of Education and signed up for their Teacher Librarian Retraining Program. I was thrown right in the deep end, with a position as Teacher Librarian at a high school in Sydney's south-west. In 2007, I undertook four subject as part of Charles Sturt University's Graduate Certificate of Education (Teacher Librarianship) course. Those subjects were ETL 401 Teacher Librarianship and ETL503 Collection Management in the first semester, and ETL and ETL Teacher Librarian as Leader in the second semester.

In late 2008, I decided that I would continue on with my studies and complete my Masters of Education (Teacher Librarianship) through Charles Sturt University. I decided to break the remaining subjects up over two years, as I had found the previous year very taxing. In 2009, I completed ETL402 Children's Literature and EER500 Introduction to Educational Research in the first semester and ETL in the second semester. I have one final subject to complete before I graduate: ETL507 Professional Experience and Portfolio.

In 2010, I changed my place of employment and began working as a Teacher Librarian for the Catholic Education system.

I have found being a Teacher Librarian to be a challenging and rewarding career so far, and continue to explore new aspects of the profession throguh professional learning and development.
