Sydney Region TL Network Meeting - Term 4

Yesterday was the Term 4 meeting for the Sydney Region TL Network. After missing last term's meeting, it was really great to catch up with people in the region and talk about all things library.

The wonderful Stu Hasic gave us a technology update, as well as talked about EduWeb and his Quiz Boxes program, which is *quite* similar to Jeopardy! but usable in an educational format. Stu is great as he always has some really practical, yet engaging tools for teachers to use.

We also had our Secondary TLs meeting, where we discussed many issues important to TLs at the moment. These included:
  • The rollout of Year 9 student laptops, through the Federal Government's Digital Education Revolution and the role of the Technical Support Officer (TSO) in the school (especially the amount of TSOs placed in school libraries).
  • Extra funding in schools, and for school programs and how this would affect school libraries.
  • Timetabling issues and examples.
  • Issues around Senior students' common room and study areas.

As always, it was great to chat to other TLs about their experiences and feel much more connected through the profession.
